Finca Vista Bella Vinos de Puerto Rico
To make a reservation, please contact through the phone on the website or Facebook page. There they will send you the dates available to reserve, menu, and directions. You have to pay for the wine tasting in advance and then the food nearing the date of your visit. They will confirm if you're coming; if anything happens, you can move the date. Please follow GPS instructions for the shortest route; it's the easiest one with fewer curves. Once you get here, there is a parking area, and you walk towards the home. They are following covid limitations with masks, hand sanitation, and social distancing.
Finca Vista Bella is a vineyard in the process of cultivating wine in Puerto Rico. They buy seeds from different places around the world and finish the process in Puerto Rico. Their wines are on the sweet floral side to make them refreshing, contrasting to the hot Puerto Rico climate.
The place is by reservation only, and you have to order the food in advance through WhatsApp. The wine tasting and food are sold separately, but I recommend you do both if it's your first time. The food comes in large family-size portions, so I recommend ordering one plate, depending on your group. They also have pizza for kids or if you don't want to share. Mom and I tried the rack of lamb, which I ordered medium well in advance which comes with potatoes and asparagus.
The appetizer was a fruit, ham, and cheese platter, and for dessert, a guava cheesecake. Cheese and cheesecake are not vegan nor gluten-free, but I tried a small bite, and they are to die for. The meat was well seasoned, no sauce necessary, tender, and the peppery saltiness paired perfectly with the red wines (Chile and California grapes). The fruit platter and desserts are paired with white wines (Italian grapes).
The dessert wines are not grape-based; they are made from peaches and pineapple, an experimental product developed in some places like here and the University of Puerto Rico Mayagüez. These reminded me of the wines I tasted in Indiana; there was one wine made from grapefruit.
Overall the experience was like being transported to Chile, California, or Italy, like a mini-vacation. The food was out of this world delicious; you can taste the love and dedication. The price and distance are worth it to try the wines and food. As I stated on social media, it is a religious experience; you forget about the world for the hours you eat, drink, and enjoy the place.
